Update and Reminders

Woot! We have 83 adults, 18 kids, and 6 babies coming to the reunion!

An adult golf outing at Soldiers Field Golf Course (a few block from the hotel) is being planned by Steve Erickson, so contact him if you're interested! He has 4 tee times at 10:00. Right now there are 12 people planning on playing. Spread the word!

Kristi and Clint have invited everyone to their home in Rochester for a bonfire! Weather permitting - they are having a bonfire at their house on Friday night (6/26) at 7 p.m. They will have goodies and makings for s'mores, etc. Everyone is welcome (but please don't feel obligated)! Please bring your own lawn/bag chairs if possible.... and you might be slobbered on by George (their newfie dog)! Their addresss is 5448 Shannon Valley Ln SE (yellow house at end of cul de sac).

A reminder for the Wisconsin folks, if you are buying beer you need to get it from a liquor store not a Walmart or grocery store. Unless you like watered down beer. :)

If you have photos or special items from the farm or family members, please bring them to the reunion to share in the hospitality room.

A heads up for family traveling from Northern MN and ND... if planning to go through Minneapolis, there's road construction on 494 west, starting near Maple Grove causing major delays. So, take 694 and 169.

We will once again have a community gathering room reserved, and we'd appreciate if everyone could bring a snack/treat/beverages to share! Thank you!

Many people will be arriving on Thursday or Friday, but no matter when you can join the fun, we're happy you can join us!

Gina and Kristi are putting together lists of fun things to do in the area - those lists will be available in the hospitality room.

Please contact me with any questions - Laura Bucholz, laurab_21@hotmail.com, 701-799-1606.

Family

"Family life is full of major and minor crises -- the ups and downs of health, success and failure in career, marriage, and divorce -- and all kinds of characters. It is tied to places and events and histories. With all of these felt details, life etches itself into memory and personality. It's difficult to imagine anything more nourishing to the soul." -- Thomas Moore

2015 Ystenes Family Reunion Logo

A huge thank you to Stephanie Hazen (daughter of Cindy Hazen, granddaughter of Doris DenHartigh) for designing this year's family reunion logo! It was inspired by the apron poem in the Ystenes cookbook, representing Clara's well-worn apron on the farm. There are 13 handprints to represent the 13 children of Clara and Obert Ystenes.

NEWS: 2012 Ystenes Family Reunion

Breaking
News!

This past weekend in Rochester MN we talked about having a family reunion again. It is planned for June 21-24, 2012. Same place at the Ramada in Eau Claire because it is a perfect set up. Cindy will get the same hospitality room for us because it was in the best area.
Our theme is “Picnic on the Farm” so it will be casual dress (as if you are going to a picnic) on Saturday for our dinner with picnic type of food and “yard games” we can play inside.
--Cindy will be in charge of blocking the rooms at the Ramada, getting the hospitality room and ordering the food and collecting the money for our dinner. Probably will get a bar again in the hall because it did work out well.
--Grace and Mae will be in charge of the decorations for our picnic dinner and if anyone has any ideas for them let them know.
--Darlene said she will take care of the table center pieces for our picnic.
--Caren said she would take care of the entertainment for Saturday night. Cindy will be helping Caren with this to and if anyone has any ideas or would like to be on this committee also please let us know.
--I am hoping Brent will be able to DJ again for us.
--We are also wanting to put together a memory table of items any of you would like to bring that may bring back memories of living or visiting on the farm.
(Anyone has a picture of the swing on the farm? Doris said she has a picture of the house on the farm she will bring. If any one has a picture of the whole farm let us know.)
--Debbie is going to try and transfer Vernon’s movies from the video tape to DVDs, so we will need a TV with DVD player to view them in the hospitality room.

So if any of you want to join in on any of these committees or think of another committee that needs to be formed let us know.

Thanks!

To The Reunion Committee:

Thank you all so very, very much for a successful and enjoyable Ystenes Reunion. I know you all put in countless hours of planning and the effort is more than appreciated. The Saturday evening dancing was a big hit and was fun for every age group. Thanks Brent! The location was great; the food was delicious; the Leinenkugel tour and the golf outing were enjoyed by many; the logo merchandise was a fun idea; the slide show was filled with great memories and the Chicken Soup for the Ystenes Soul is a true treasure. Thanks to everyone who had a part in this heart-warming family event. You all did a tremendous job!!

Love you all,

Duane and Yvonne
